100% Hardwood means it will decompose slower and retain its color longer. It lasts longer! Chipped wood means it has more uniform sized pieces without the shredded edges. Hardwood pieces are heavier and are less prone to be blown out by the wind or washed away. We give your property a more beautiful appearance and color from day one.
Our mulch is made special from a local provider that uses only pure, chipped wood from oak trees rather than a shredded blend that may contain plastic and other inorganic fillers. Heartland goes the extra mile to ensure that we deliver only the highest quality of mulch to our clients, and you will not find a superior mulch anywhere in town. Our premium mulch holds its color longer, lasts longer, and decomposes slower than any of our competitors' mulch!
Our competitors use a mixture of hard and softwoods. The softwood decomposes quickly and loses color quickly. Finely shredded pieces with torn edges range in size from sawdust to large chunks. The small pieces and splintered edges decompose quickly. This lighter softwood product is easily blown by the wind or washed out, and it is simply not as good-looking as our hardwood chipped mulch.
Lower-quality mulch does not decompose the way our premium mulch does. This is how premium mulch differentiates itself from lesser mulch types. Finely shredded mulch loses its shape and gets displaced easily, and it adds very little nutrients to the soil because it has already been broken down in the production process. Our premium mulch will maintain its color, shape, and beneficial qualities throughout the season even as it decomposes to improve your soil.
We want to make the mulching process as easy as possible. You will meet with a Heartland employee for a consultation, and they will walk you through your options and help you decide which mulch is best for your yard. Once you have picked out the style you want, mulch delivery and installation services are all part of the package! Any installation fees or delivery fees will always be fair and transparent for any of the following services:
At your property, we will address any areas where you would like mulch to be installed. We spread mulch throughout the desired area at a depth of 2-4 inches. Tree rings and garden beds will be treated with great care, and we always make sure to keep the mulch an appropriate distance away from the base of tree trunks, crowns of shrubs, and emerging flower seedlings to ensure healthy plant growth.
Question: What type of mulch do you offer?
Answer: 100% chipped hardwood that is dyed brown or black. Red and undyed is available upon request, and it is made from lawn recycling center trimmings and is double-ground.
Question: How often should mulch be refreshed?
Answer: Our mulch can last up to two years, but for the best appearance, annual top-dressing is recommended.
Question: Do you remove old mulch before installation?
Answer: No. Existing mulch still has water retention benefits, so it is more beneficial to leave old mulch in place.
Question: What does the mulch delivery and install process look like from start to finish?
Answer: Our crew will arrive with mulch on a trailer. It is unloaded one wheel barrow at a time and installed into the landscape beds. We never dump a load of mulch in the street or driveway. Once the mulch is installed in all of the beds, we clean up the lawn area and any decorative items in the landscape beds.
The provider they go to is uncommon (not many other companies use the provider and they usually just use a really bad mulch, they simply don’t bother to get a premium mulch; it’s just the recycled stuff that gets dyed).
Our mulch is from Oak Wood Mills that pass on the chipped wood (only from oak trees so it’s not a blend of plastic and other garbage) The company makes a particular mulch that get’s dyed and sells it to them. Another company could call the company and ask for the same high quality and colored mulch but they went out of their way to get this higher quality mulch (it’s not proprietary it’s just the majority of mulch you see around town is a ground up blend of recycled materials where ours is 100% chipped oak. It holds it color longer, lasts longer, and decomposes slower
